Ans)The poet thinks that it is an outworn idea that the labor and the wounds are vain. This related to hard work and courage. Courage and persistence are necessary to carry on a struggle for the achievement of a purpose. One finds many difficulties, gets wounded and weary from his ceaseless struggle but the experience of his labor and getting wounded gives him a new courage to fight for his aim.

Ans)The poem “Say Not the Struggle Naught Availeth” gives an idea and message that optimism is the key to success in all adventure of life. One should not become despairing (hopeless) about his struggle and hard work. It is a mistake to think that human struggle goes wasted because it always bears fruit struggle but the experience of his labor and getting wounded gives him a new courage to fight for his aim.

Perpetual efforts and sincere devotion keep you at the zenith of success. Endeavour with an objective is always rewarded.

Ans)The poet believes that the struggle, which is made in order to achieve a purpose, always produces an influence on other thing. It is wrong idea to believe in case of battle between two groups that not all influence the enemy that is happening. If the struggle of one party in a battlefield does not get a success and the enemy remains undefeated but it produces an influence surly on the activities of the enemy. This influence is the symbol of success because it can provide an opportunity to change the circumstances.

Ans)The poet believes that struggle has a power to get a success for a purpose. The poet wants to assert that if we struggle and try to do things, we can bring about a great change in the world around us. Thus, we should not lose heart, if it seems that some of our efforts have no effect on our enemies.

Ans)The poet believes that the hopes and expectations provide us strength to fight so one should not leave his hope for a better future. If we believe that all the hopes that we had, deceived us, the all fears that we feel are false. Thus, the idea that our hopes may not be fulfilled should not discourage us.

Q.6.Why does the poet think that something better is concealed in the smoke in a battlefield?

Ans)The poet thinks that hope plays an important role in the battlefield. It someone decides to run away from the battlefield on viewing the power of the enemy then he should not take such a decision. It is quite probable that the enemies have been defeated and they are hiding themselves within the distant smoke in the battlefield. At the same time when a solider decides to run away, his companions might be chasing bravely the enemies and there is an opportunity that his companions might score a victory over the enemies if he strengthens then with his help.

Q.7.Why does the poet believe that the sun throws its light in all directions to overcome the darkness?

Ans)The poet believes that though the sun rises in the east but it throws its light in all directions. The sunlight, which appears as daylight in a symbol of that force, works against the darkness. The darkness is considered as the force of evil. The sun throws its light in all directions in order to overcome the darkness.
